My Journey in Engineering & Additive Manufacturing
I'm Chance, born and raised in the mountains of Colorado, where a love for building, tinkering, and solving real-world problems took root early on. In 2015, I headed off to Denver for college and earned my degree in Mechanical Engineering, setting the foundation for a career focused on precision, innovation, and turning complex ideas into tangible hardware.
In 2021, I joined Ball Aerospace as a Manufacturing Engineer, where I worked on piece-part manufacturing for satellites and gimbal systems supporting critical NASA missions. It was there that I gained deep hands-on experience in high-reliability production, tight tolerances, and the demands of space-grade components.
By 2023, I transitioned to Gulfstream Aerospace in Savannah, Georgia, taking on mechanical design roles for luxury aircraft interiors. My work included everything from EWIS (Electrical Wiring Interconnection Systems), electrical harness routing, mechanical blocks aseemblies, credenzas, bulkheads, plumbing systems, cabin doors, and more—ensuring every detail met stringent aerospace standards for safety, performance, and aesthetics.
Through these roles at the forefront of aerospace manufacturing, I saw firsthand the limitations of traditional methods: long lead times, high costs for low-volume or custom parts, and barriers that kept innovative ideas from becoming reality. That's what inspired me to start Mims Solutions.
My goal is simple but powerful: to make high-quality additive manufacturing accessible to more individuals, inventors, small businesses, and creators who want to bring their visions to life. Whether it's a one-off prototype, a custom tool, or a production-ready part, I provide the expertise, technology, and support to turn concepts into physical reality—faster, smarter, and more affordably than ever before.
Now based in beautiful Austin, Texas, I'm excited to serve clients locally and beyond, blending my aerospace-honed precision with the freedom and creativity of 3D printing. Let's build something extraordinary together.
